- 5 days
- linear from Vicenza to Venice
- Discount for 3rd person in room
Highlights
A linear route that winds through vineyards and waterways, cities of art, and small villages, perfect to start exploring the Veneto region by bicycle. Starting in Vicenza, the city of the famous Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, through Bassano del Grappa and then Treviso, you finally reach the splendor of Venice and its lagoon.
- Traditional Veneto dishes: baccalà, bigoli, polenta and sopressa
- The Chess Square in Marostica
- Asolo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy
What awaits you
Three easy cycling routes suitable for everyone. The route is almost all flat except for a short climb before Asolo. You ride on low-traffic back roads and bike paths. More care should be taken when entering and leaving towns, as there can be a bit more traffic, especially near Treviso.
1. Arrival in Vicenza, city of Palladio
Arrival in Vicenza, a little gem of a city characterised by many works of Andrea Palladio, a famous 16th-century architect who made his home here. Take some time to walk between Piazza dei Signori, with its famous Basilica, and Corso Palladio, where you can admire both Venetian palaces and neoclassical buildings. Among Palladio’s works, don’t miss Palazzo Chiericati, now home to the city’s art gallery, and the world-famous Teatro Olimpico, the oldest permanent indoor theatre of modern times.
2. First leg to Bassano del Grappa and its Ponte Vecchio
Today’s destination is Bassano. This characteristic city is known for the famous drink “grappa” and for the “Ponte Vecchio,” also known as the Bridge of the Alpini. This is a historic covered wooden bridge, which spans the Brenta River in the center of the city. Repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt, it owes its current appearance to a Palladian design. On your way to Bassano, we recommend a stop in Sandrigo, home of the renowned Vicenza-style salt cod, and also in Marostica, a medieval town famous for its Chess Square, used every two years for a chess game with living characters.
3. Cycling through rolling hills and...glasses of prosecco, heading to Treviso
Wave goodbye to bustling Bassano, as you get on your bike and set off for Asolo. Asolo is a jewel of medieval times, considered one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, with its lovely cobblestone streets and stone houses with panoramic gardens overlooking the valley below. Continuing on, you find yourself in the lands of the Prosecco vineyards, recognisable by the terraced hillsides. The Prosecco Hills have been inscribed on the World Heritage List as a cultural landscape.
In Maser, you can admire another Palladian masterpiece, Villa Barbaro, frescoed by Paolo Veronese. Off again on the pedals to Treviso, unique with its small canals and mills, which characterize the city center. Treviso is full of beautiful sights, from neoclassical buildings to houses displaying flower-filled balconies.
4. Arrival in the Venetian Lagoon, along ancient waterways
From Treviso, follow the Sile River Greenway, a beautiful bike path along the towpaths of the Sile that takes you through a peaceful landscape characterised by small villages nestled on the river. Don’t miss the striking Cimitero dei Burci (ship graveyard) in Casier, where you can admire the half-sunken remains of these large wooden boats, used until the 1970s to transport goods along the Sile. Today’s destination is Mestre, the mainland of Venice.
Shorten the stage You can shorten the stage by taking a train from Quarto d’Altino station to Mestre, on the Treviso-Mestre railway route.
5. End of tour in Mestre
After breakfast, end of services. If you still have time, take the opportunity to reach Venice and visit its most emblematic sights: St. Mark’s Square, with its breathtaking monuments, the sestiere of Castello to Campo dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo with its imposing Gothic basilica, and finally the famous Rialto Bridge with its fish market.
You will sleep in 3/4* hotels carefully selected for you. All rooms have air conditioning. The hotels are easily accessible from the indicated route and located near major points of interest. Breakfast is always included.

Mobile phone holder, which one to choose?
- Girolibero handlebar bag
- Generic phone holders
- SP Connect™ mount, the best on the market
To attach your smartphone to the handlebar you have 3 options:
- use the Girolibero handlebar bag supplied free of charge (1 per room)
- buy a mobile phone holder in sports shops or major e-commerce outlets: for € 18-25 we recommend the models that clamp your mobile phone and its case like a vise.
- order the best product on the market, SP Connect™ with a special discount. The SP Connect™ mount is attached to the handlebar and works only with a special phone case. This case, which can also be used in everyday life, is slightly thicker than normal cases and is fixed to the handlebar mount with a simple click. The main advantage is that it is easy to attach and remove your phone, so you can immediately use it to take pictures or make calls, as well as grab it quickly when you want to stop cycling and have a break. Also, there are many other available accessories, including those for your car and writing desk. We recommend the Velcro Universal Mount SPC+ which costs € 29.90, which you can buy with a special 20% discount. The compatible phone case must be purchased separately and the price varies depending on your phone model. Visit the official SP Connect™ website and use the discount code TRAVEL20, which applies to all products.
